About The Eye Scene

At The Eye Scene I have created a haven…a beautiful, boutique space which has more in common with an art gallery than an optical storefront…this is how important I believe it is to find the right glasses for you. I absolutely love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else.

Meet Our Team

The Eye Scene team is made up of Lindy, Fabian, Debbie, Janine, Katie and Marion – optometry specialists, each offering unique strengths to best serve their clients. Our team are dedicated to providing a professional and yet personalised experience. From eye examinations to help selecting the perfect frames for your face, The Eye Scene team have the knowledge and experience to assist.

Lindy Goodman

Owner/Optical Dispenser

A qualified dispenser of almost 30 years, Lindy is so much more…The heart and soul of The Eye Scene, she is determined to educate people that eyewear is so much more than simply a practical accessory. To Lindy, eyewear is a statement and one piece is never enough to suit any and all occasions. For this reason, The Eye Scene stocks around 3000 pairs of glasses at any time with new stock arriving at least every three months.

Opening The Eye Scene in 2003, Lindy has continued to serve Sydney’s Double Bay and surrounds with unique, stylish, fashionable, boutique eyewear. Lindy is consistently researching, building relationships with suppliers, attending trade shows and keeping abreast of the market.

‘I buy every single pair of glasses with someone in mind. Whether that’s because they are colourful, different, unique or special – eyewear is the very first thing people will notice about you (not your shoes) so you must get it right.’ Travelling overseas on regular buying trips, Lindy ensures that her clients can select from the very best eyewear available anywhere in the world.

‘At The Eye Scene I have created a haven…a beautiful, boutique space which has more in common with an art gallery than an optical storefront…this is how important I believe it is to find the right glasses for you. I absolutely love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else.’

Fabian Mammarella

After graduating in 1982, our optometrist Fabian took up locum work in various parts of Australia. This gave him the experience he needed to start his own practice and become the well-respected optometrist he is today. In 2005, he joined The Eye Scene; it’s been a tremendously rewarding and educational journey ever since. Fabian knows each and every one of our clients and has been an integral part of our business for the past 14 years.

Debbie Narunsky

Debbie is a therapeutically qualified Optometrist, meaning she is able to prescribe topical medication to treat minor eye infections, inflammations and dry eyes.

Debbie offers full-scope optometry including behavioural optometry, therapeutics, contact lenses and familiarity with new technology such as Digital Retinal Imaging and Ocular Coherence Tomography. She has extensive experience in frame selection, dispensing, adjustments, repairs and administration.

Janine Goldberg

Optical Dispenser

Janine joined The Eye Scene after a very successful career in Early Childhood Education. This is apparent in the patience and special attention she gives to our youngest clients. Janine's hands-on approach with all stock arriving at The Eye Scene means that she knows exactly what frames we have and will help you select the unique eyewear you’re after. Janine is a qualified Optical Dispenser and loves nothing more than helping and advising clients with frame selection.

Kati Frank

Graduated from the UNSW in the ‘old school’ of Optometry where eye health, meeting optimal visual needs and dispensing comfortable and great looking spectacles are collectively the responsibility of an Optometrist, Kati has worked as an Optometrist in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney for almost 40 years.

During this time, she has also supervised undergraduate students in the School of Optometry at the UNSW, chaired the Executive of the Contact Lens Society of Australia and lectured to Optical Dispensing students at UTS.

Kati is empathetic and loves engaging with people of all ages. Her warmth, style, humour and people skills as well as her clinical knowledge and experience combine to make her a favourite with her patients.

She is passionate and enthusiastic about her career and is very proud that her sons have followed with careers in healthcare as doctors with one of her sons specialising in Ophthalmology and the other in Rehabilitation Medicine.

Kati enjoys travel, walking and her amazing grandchildren.

Marion Max

Retail Administrator

A wonderful addition to The Eye Scene team, Marion is experienced at helping you select the perfect glasses to suit your face, your lifestyle, your personality and your style.

Marion has spent 32 years of her working life running a large family jewellery factory in Cape Town, South Africa. She was also involved with the styling as well as the selling of the extensive jewellery range both locally and abroad.

After immigrating to Sydney and no longer involved in the day to day running of the factory, she felt the need for a change of direction, career wise. Marion was given the sole agency in Australia of a well-known South African aluminium and stainless-steel range, and at the same time I was also offered a position carrying a range of spectacle frames. It was not until she happened to walk into The Eye Scene one day that she realised that this was the practice she would love to work in. Lindy offered Marion a position in September 2008 and she has loved working in this practice ever since. She has just loved watching this business grow from strength to strength and being part of this special team.
